Project Homeless Connect is best known for our large-scale expo-style events, which we refer to as “Community Days of Service” and are commonly hosted at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. The goal of these service days is to help people connect to services and providers more efficiently and effectively. During each event, Providers are asked to not only offer information or future appointments, but to offer tangible services on site. This ensures that rather than focusing on information gathering, when Participants attend a Community Day of Service, they leave the event with their needs already met!
All of the Providers that attend our events do so at no cost to Project Homeless Connect. They provide the supplies for their services, the staff and experts needed to achieve goals, and often a team of volunteers that help them. It is through their generous time and expertise that over 1,200 Participants in attendance leave with more than 200 services (which otherwise may have taken months to access due to the complicated systems of care).
We want to take a moment to thank all our Provider Partners for their hard work and the services they’ve provided for our participants this past year, including but not limited to:
DMV Identification cards, dental care, prescription glasses, hearing screenings, HIV & Hepatitis C testing, domestic violence support, housing information, healthy food, hygiene products, showers, pet support, medical care, mental health services, benefits enrollment for CAAP, CalFresh, Medi-Cal, & SSI, legal advice, phone calls & voice mail accounts, employment counseling & job training, Hepatitis A & flu vaccines, wheelchair repair, addiction support, veteran services, compassionate conversations, and much more
These services are greatly appreciated by the community and are always provided with dignity and compassion. Thank you!
We have not allowed COVID to prevent us from continuing to achieve our goals of making access to services efficient and effective! Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, large group gatherings are not permitted. However, PHC has been able to continue providing services to participants in a safer, less populated setting by inviting our Provider Partners to join our Modified Drop-In Service Days at our Office every 2nd Wednesday of the month! Last month, on August 12th, Glide supported by bringing rapid HIV & Hepatitis C testing, Narcan, DMV ID vouchers, appointments for COVID-19 testing, takeaway food bags, and more!
Again, a big thank you to ALL of our Provider Partners. Hopefully, as we adapt with this new way to offer services, we will be able to bring each of your unique services to our Participants
